About this Gig
Japanese spreadsheets often break when they move between systems: Shift-JIS encoding, a mix of full-width and half-width characters (ＡＢＣ vs ABC), different dashes in phone numbers, stray spaces and duplicate rows.
I clean your file and show you exactly what changed.
What you get:
- Shift-JIS (Windows cp932) files saved as UTF-8 with BOM, which Excel and Google Sheets usually open correctly
- Full-width letters, numbers and spaces normalized; dashes between digits unified in the columns we agree on
- Duplicate and empty rows removed by rules we agree on first
- Cleaned file as CSV (all packages) or Excel .xlsx (Standard and Premium)
- A change report listing every removed row and edited cell
Your original file is never modified. The cleaning runs as Python scripts on my computer, so results are consistent and repeatable.
Please message me before ordering with a few sample rows (dummy data is fine) and the columns that define a duplicate. I'll confirm what can be done.
Not included: typing data from images or PDFs, web scraping, or deciding which record is "correct" when two rows disagree.
FAQ
Do you use AI?
The cleaning itself is done by Python scripts. Only if you agree, the change report (before and after values) is reviewed with AI (Claude by Anthropic). If you say no, nothing from your file is given to AI, and custom rules are written from your description and dummy rows only.
My file already shows garbled text (mojibake). Can you fix it?
It depends on the file. Whether it can be repaired is decided after looking at a few sample rows, and I'll tell you honestly before you order.
Will you change product codes or IDs?
Tell me which columns must stay exactly as they are. Their cell values are not changed. Leading zeros stored as text are kept; zeros that only come from Excel's cell format are checked with you first. A whole row can still be removed if it is a duplicate under the rules we agreed.
Can you work with Excel files?
Yes, .xlsx. Cell values are read from the sheets you name. Formulas, formatting and merged cells are not kept: the output contains plain values.
What is a custom rule?
One extra cleaning step, for example splitting a name column or unifying company suffixes like 株式会社 / (株). Premium includes up to 3, agreed in writing before the order. Revisions cover the agreed rules only; new rules are a new order.
Which duplicate is kept?
By default the first one in the file. We can agree on a different rule before you order.
Is my data safe?
Your files are processed on my computer and used only for your order. Please attach them here on Fiverr. I delete my local working files 30 days after the order is completed, or sooner on request. If the file has personal data you don't need cleaned, please remove those columns before sending.
