Administrative Assistant II - Veteran Services
College • Part-time
Nov 2024 - Present • 2 yrs
Support daily operations within Portland Community College's Veteran Services department, combining student-facing administrative support with technical troubleshooting, process improvement, documentation, and project coordination. Assist students and staff with institutional systems, access issues, records, and administrative processes while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and clear communication. Help onboard and train student employees, document procedures, and coordinate information across teams. Selected project — Hybrid Veteran Community Initiative (HVCI): Identified opportunities to improve access and community engagement for student veterans across multiple campuses, including students who cannot consistently participate in traditional in-person activities. Independently developed a technology-enabled engagement proposal, progressing from initial concept through stakeholder presentations, operational planning, budget development, risk considerations, and detailed implementation documentation. Built relationships across departments, incorporated staff feedback, and developed a framework for sustainable operations, student participation, technical support, and measurable outcomes. The initiative received institutional approval and an initial budget, establishing a foundation for pilot implementation. This work reflects my approach to problem-solving: identify an unmet need, assess existing resources, connect stakeholders and systems, and develop a practical plan before problems become barriers.
Founder & Technical Solutions Developer
Self-Employed / Freelancer • Self-employed
Aug 2023 - Present • 3 yrs 3 mos
Founded The Skill Forge LLC to explore how practical technology, creative problem-solving, and hands-on development can turn ideas into useful solutions. Lead independent projects spanning software development, AI, workflow automation, systems integration, technical documentation, and educational game development. Manage projects from initial concept and requirements through prototyping, testing, refinement, and documentation. Selected technical projects: • MARPA (Memory-Augmented Reasoning & Planning Assistant): Developing an independent AI software project in Python, using iterative development, testing, version control, and structured documentation. Progressing toward real-world user testing. • Educational Game Development: Building an interactive learning game in Godot, implementing inventory systems, resource gathering, character interactions, scene management, and educational gameplay. • Technical Systems & Automation: Exploring practical ways to connect existing software, tools, and processes to reduce repetitive work and improve usability. My approach emphasizes portfolio-verified mastery: demonstrating capability through working solutions, documented development, and measurable outcomes rather than relying solely on job titles or credentials. The Skill Forge operates under a simple philosophy: "From raw potential, to refined precision."
Computer Technology Services Intern
College • Part-time
Jan 2026 - Mar 2026 • 2 mos
Completed a 120+ hour internship with Portland Community College's Computer Technology Services team, gaining hands-on experience supporting enterprise technology across a multi-campus educational environment. Provided technical troubleshooting and endpoint support for Windows computers, Chromebooks, and macOS devices. Investigated hardware, software, networking, and peripheral issues using a systematic approach: reproduce the problem, identify potential causes, test solutions, and document the resolution. Key responsibilities and accomplishments: • Deployed and configured 30+ workstations and wiped, reimaged, or prepared 70+ computers for redeployment. • Worked with enterprise tools including KACE, Ghost Solution Suite, Deep Freeze, and LanSchool to support workstation configuration, deployment, and management. • Diagnosed hardware and connectivity problems, performed component-level troubleshooting, and assisted with workstation repairs and peripheral support. • Participated in on-site support visits, independently researched unfamiliar technical issues, and used vendor documentation to identify practical solutions. • Supported technical documentation, ticket tracking, and communication to help ensure issues were resolved accurately and efficiently. This experience strengthened my ability to work across unfamiliar systems, troubleshoot methodically, and develop practical solutions using the resources already available.
