FAQ
My SAM.gov says “Active.” Why can’t I just bid on set-asides?
Active only means you’re eligible to be paid. Small business status is tied to each NAICS code and is re-certified when you submit an offer. Set-asides also need the right SBA certification: WOSB, 8(a), HUBZone, or SDVOSB.
What is the “IRS name match” problem?
Your legal name, address, and tax ID are checked against external records, and this is the top reason registrations stall. Punctuation and “LLC” vs “L.L.C.” matter. I match everything to your IRS EIN letter, not your website or DBA
Why does my primary NAICS code matter so much?
It sets your SBA size standard (revenue or headcount) and drives the opportunities you see. Pick a code with a size limit you exceed and you’re ineligible for set-asides. I choose it by your real revenue and your target contracts.
What’s the difference between WOSB, WBENC, and WBE?
WOSB is SBA’s federal set-aside program. WBENC is a private certification that corporations and some agencies recognize. WBE usually comes from a state, local, or transit agency. Eligibility, fees, and benefits differ, and many firms hold more than one.
