this is the exact setup I run for my own stream. my editor pulls footage off my stream PC every day.


what you get:

  • a shared folder that shows up like a normal drive on your editor's computer
  • OBS records straight into it so new footage just shows up
  • a separate account for your editor that can only see that one folder
  • firewall locked down so file sharing only works through the VPN
  • optional nightly backup so one bad delete doesn't cost you a stream

we do it over screen share, you stay logged in and I never need your passwords. your router needs a built-in VPN server (most mesh stuff like TP-Link Deco and ASUS has one) or we use free WireGuard / Tailscale.
