FAQ
Why do you offer mixing and mastering on all your tracks?
I believe that if you're paying for a product- you should receive the finished product. Also, I use plugins on my master bus that effect my mix, so sometimes I tweak my mix and my master bus together to get them to play nice.
Do you send back DAW project files? (ptx, logicx, etc)
No. This is because I use a lot of licensed plugins that might not translate back into your own DAW and I don't want someone to say "aww mann, why are there all these inactive plugins on my song?" just because it works in my computer doesn't mean it will work in yours.
Do you send mixed stems back? (Trackouts)
Very rarely, only in specific scenarios: Like if you want to redo your vocal takes over the background music. But otherwise, unless you want to pull a Lars and mute the Bassist, there's not much point to it.
What is the difference between a WAV and an mp3 file?
WAV is the highest quality audio file of your track, it's what you should be using for Spotify/Apple music uploads, CD's, etc. MP3 is a data compressed version of your track, it's better for sending over email, sharing on facebook messenger, etc. for a quick listen.
What should I do to prepare my project for mixing/mastering?
Please make sure you are happy with your recording first. If there's wild inconsistencies like acoustic drums that go out of time, a dog barking in the background of your vocal take, those types of things will be be extremely difficult to fix "in the mix".
Why do you add a day for every song?
In my experience. The second day you listen back to your mix it sounds a lot different than the actual day you mixed it. I like to spend at least 2 days on mixing- to make any adjustments I'm hearing with fresh ears.
