FAQ
Are these scientific illustrations?
No, my illustrations are botanically informed and based on real references, but they are not intended for academic or scientific classification. They focus on aesthetic clarity, detail, and mood, ideal for packaging, editorial, or brand use.
Do you include text or labels in the illustration?
Yes, if requested, I can include text (e.g. plant names, product title) in the basic or standart package. Let me know your design needs upfront, so I can tailor the composition accordingly.
Do I need to credit you when using your illustration?
Yes, artist credit (“Illustrated by Madeline Cords”) is required for all uses outside packaging (e.g. editorial, social media). For branding, logos, or uncredited large-scale use, an extended license and higher fee apply.
Do you work in specific styles (e.g. watercolor, fine-line)?
Yes, I offer several styles: • Clean ink drawing (vector optional) • Colored digital painting (naturalistic, detailed, simple) You can also request a specific mood, e.g. muted, soft, or earthy tones.
What do revisions include?
Revisions include small adjustments such as color tweaks, text alignment, or size changes. Larger changes (like switching to a different plant or restyling) may require an additional fee or custom order.
Can I use your illustration in print or publication?
Commercial use (e.g. print, publications, digital campaigns) are included in the Premium Package. For the Basic and Standard Packages, commercial rights are available as an additional add-on. For large-scale retail use, please request a custom offer that includes the Extended Commercial Rights.
Does the Premium package include full commercial rights for packaging and resale?
The Premium package includes basic commercial rights for digital use and small prints (max. 500 units). For resale, retail packaging or large-scale use, please contact me before ordering – I’ll send a Custom Offer with the right license.
What’s the difference between Commercial Use and Extended Rights?
• Commercial Use (included): For small businesses, product labels, packaging, editorial, etc. • Extended Rights (add-on): Needed for resale (e.g. on prints, merchandise) or high-volume distribution. If unsure, feel free to ask.
Do you include the source file (PSD or layered)?
I do not provide source files (such as PSD or AI) as part of my standard packages, to protect my artistic work and intellectual property.
Can I request a matching set of illustrations (e.g. multiple plants for one product line)?
Yes, I offer bundled sets (e.g. 3–5 matching herbs or flowers) with consistent style and layout logic. This is ideal for coordinated product lines, e.g. teas, soaps, or tincture labels. Please message me for a custom quote.
