So you found a factory in China and you are about to pay them. Do you really know who they are? That is what I find out. I read the Chinese official records. Free and public, but in Chinese, and most of those sites will not open outside China. I check who owns it, the capital, address changes, the debtor list, court cases, and penalties. I check Chinese companies before we sign a contract or send money. What I do every week: - Pull the company's official registration record: legal name, credit code, entity type, registered capital vs paid-in capital, shareholders, legal representative, registered address, and the full business scope. - Check the change history: how many times the address, the legal rep or the shareholders changed, and when. - Run the company and its legal representative through the court enforcement and dishonest-debtor lists, and check the government credit platform for administrative penalties and blacklists. - Compare what the registration says with what the company claims it does, and note any mismatch. - Write it up in English: who they are, what the red flags are, and what I would do next. What this job taught me: the data is free and public, but it is in Chinese, spread across several government sites, and easy to misread. Most of the value is in reading carefully, keeping dated screenshots, and being clear about what is NOT known. I do not promise anyone is safe. I report what the records say, with the date I checked.
