I have been working at SovIoTech for over a year as an embedded systems and edge ML engineer. My work sits between hardware and software, so I take a product from schematic to working firmware. I design PCBs in KiCad and EasyEDA, bring the boards up myself, and then write the firmware that runs on them. I work mostly with ESP32, ESP32-S3, STM32 including the STM32U5 series, nRF52 and Raspberry Pi. On the AI side I led firmware for a pair of AI smart glasses built on ESP32-S3, using the LiveKit SDK for real time audio streaming and low latency responses. I also deploy small ML models on microcontrollers for things like sensor classification and signal processing, and I use MATLAB for DSP work before moving the algorithm onto the target. On the driver and performance side, I moved display drivers on STM32 from QSPI to OCTOSPI, which gave much better throughput and smoother rendering. I have also written Bluetooth audio firmware covering A2DP streaming, live calling and BLE GATT services, and I work with low power wireless links including LoRa, BLE, Wi-Fi and cellular for battery powered devices. Beyond that I have written flight control and PID tuning code for UAVs, and built custom Debian based firmware installers and multimedia drivers for Raspberry Pi based systems. Most of my projects are battery powered or field deployed, so a lot of my time goes into power budgeting, reliability and making sure the device keeps running without someone watching it.
