I will do dfm analysis, manufacturing optimization and cad design review

About this gig
Has your manufacturer told you "this design can't be made" or "this will be too expensive to produce"? Do you have a CAD file but don't know if it's actually manufacturable?
I specialize in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) analysis and optimization. I review your existing CAD designs and identify critical manufacturing issues before you waste money on tooling or prototypes.
I help product developers, startups, and manufacturers avoid costly production errors by fixing design flaws early.
Services included:
- Complete DFM analysis of your CAD files
- Identification of manufacturing issues (wall thickness, draft angles, undercuts, tolerances)
- Mold design analysis for injection molding
- Assembly optimization and part consolidation
- Material selection recommendations
- Cost reduction opportunities
- Detailed PDF report with marked-up CAD screenshots
- Corrected CAD files (Standard & Premium)
- Manufacturing specifications document
Common issues I fix:
- Improper wall thickness (too thin/thick)
- Missing draft angles
- Undercuts that prevent mold release
- Impossible tolerances
- Poor rib/boss design
- Assembly complexity
Stop production failures before they cost you thousands. Inbox me with your CAD files.

FAQ
What is DFM and why do I need it?
DFM (Design for Manufacturing) is the process of analyzing a product design to ensure it can actually be manufactured efficiently and cost-effectively. Many beautiful CAD designs fail in production because of issues like undercuts, impossible tolerances, or poor material choices.
What file formats can you review?
I can review STEP, IGES, STL, SLDPRT (SolidWorks), F3D (Fusion 360), IPT (Inventor), and most standard CAD formats. If you only have STL files, I can still do a basic review, but STEP or native CAD files allow for more detailed analysis.
I already have a manufacturer. Why do I need this?
Many manufacturers will simply quote your design "as-is" without telling you it could be made cheaper or better. Or worse, they'll start production and discover problems mid-run, causing delays and cost overruns. My DFM analysis catches issues before production starts.
What manufacturing methods do you analyze for?
I specialize in injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, 3D printing, and die casting. Each manufacturing method has different design rules, and I ensure your CAD follows the correct constraints for your chosen method.
Will you actually fix the CAD design or just tell me what's wrong?
The Basic package provides a detailed report identifying issues. The Standard package includes fixing the CAD design and providing corrected STEP files. The Premium package includes complete redesign optimization for cost and manufacturability.
How detailed is the DFM report?
You receive a professional PDF report (typically 8-15 pages) with annotated CAD screenshots, specific issue callouts, recommended fixes, and manufacturing best practices. For injection molding, I include wall thickness analysis, draft angle checks, and parting line recommendations.
Can you help reduce manufacturing costs?
Yes! The Premium package includes cost reduction analysis. I can suggest part consolidation, alternative materials, simplified geometry, and manufacturing method changes that can significantly reduce tooling and production costs.
