About me
Greetings from Argentina, my name is Matias Halac and I was born in Detroit, but my family moved to Argentina when I was 7 years old.
I am fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese (I also lived in Brazil).
I've been playing chess for most of my life. I started with the basics at age 6 and participated in my first tournament at age 9.
At 48 years old, I have extensive experience in chess, including playing, writing, and teaching.
I own a chess academy in my city, so I have extensive experience teaching at any levelsince 20 year ago. I have many IM students, national champions.

it was a pleasure working with Matias! He is kind, articulate and very knowledgeable. We focused on exploring various lines of the black opening to find one that suits my style of play and also reviewed a couple of my games. He also sent some chess studies that I can work and practice offline. Definitely highly recommended!
