Veloce, an early-stage SaaS startup building a B2B analytics platform, had a small engineering team struggling to keep up with code review backlogs, inconsistent PR documentation, and manual release note generation as their codebase grew. Engineers were spending significant time on repetitive review tasks instead of feature development, and releases were often delayed due to manual changelog compilation. I was brought on to use Claude Code as the primary tool for building automation across their GitHub workflow. I used Claude Code to develop custom GitHub Action scripts, integrated via the GitHub API, that automatically ran first-pass code reviews on incoming pull requests, flagging style violations, missing tests, and common bug patterns before a human reviewer stepped in. Claude Code was also used to build an automation that generated structured PR descriptions and changelog entries directly from commit history and diffs, removing the need for engineers to manually document every change. I additionally used Claude Code to build a repository health automation that ran on a schedule, scanning for stale branches, outdated dependencies, and unresolved merge conflicts, then posting a summarized report directly into the team's GitHub Issues for triage. All scripts were version-controlled and integrated directly into their existing CI pipeline without disrupting current development workflows. This significantly reduced the engineering team's manual review and documentation burden, shortened the time between PR submission and merge, and gave the founders cleaner, more consistent release documentation for investor and customer updates.
