Deep understanding: This is where he stood out. He correctly implemented some genuinely tricky requirements — high-current copper pour specs, component substitutions with real technical reasoning behind them, and a connector layout that had to work correctly within a stacked two-board assembly. That's not trivial, and he handled it competently.
