I will provide post frame structural calculations for pole barn builders and suppliers
About this Gig
Post frame builders and suppliers often need structural calculations to attach to a permit submittal or to hand a licensed engineer for review. I prepare those calculations, sized to the loads at your site.
What you receive:
- Site-specific wind and snow loads per ASCE 7
- Post checks for combined axial load and bending
- Embedded post and footing sizing
- Girt and purlin checks
- Truss reactions and bracing loads to pass to your truss supplier
- Roof and wall diaphragm and lateral load checks
How I work:
I follow ASCE 7, the NDS and the IBC, and I state every assumption in the package so your reviewer can follow the logic.
What I need from you:
- Building location (county and state)
- Width, length, eave height and post spacing
- Roof pitch, truss spacing and door and window openings
- Any special loads, such as equipment or stored material
Scope:
This is unsealed engineering support. It carries no PE stamp and is not a permit approval. Stamp coordination through a licensed partner is available as a separate paid add-on. Site visits, permit submission and truss design are not included.
Message me your building details before ordering and I will confirm the scope fits.

FAQ
Are the calculations stamped by a licensed PE?
No. This gig is unsealed engineering support. If your building department requires a sealed set, message me before ordering. PE stamp coordination through a licensed partner is available as a separate paid add-on.
What do I need to send to get started?
Building location (county and state), width, length, eave height, post spacing, roof pitch, truss spacing, door and window openings, and any special loads such as equipment or stored material.
Do you design the trusses?
Yes. I can design the roof trusses, or if your supplier provides them I supply the reactions and bracing loads they need. I also do the post, footing, girt, purlin and diaphragm checks. Unsealed unless you add stamp coordination.
Will my building department accept these calculations?
I cannot guarantee approval, since requirements vary by jurisdiction. Many offices require a sealed set from an engineer licensed in that state. Ask your office what they require, then message me.
Which codes and standards do you use?
ASCE 7 for wind and snow loads, the NDS for wood member design, and the IBC. Every assumption is stated in the calculation package so your reviewer can follow the logic.
