I will do reverse engineering and convert physical part or scan to cad model

About this gig
Have a physical component, discontinued part, damaged prototype, STL/mesh, or 3D scan but no usable CAD model?
I can turn your existing part or reference data into a clean, editable 3D CAD model that can be used for design development, replacement parts, manufacturing preparation, prototyping, or future modifications.
My approach combines dimensional reconstruction, feature recognition, parametric CAD modeling, and engineering judgment to recreate the geometry as accurately as the available reference data allows.
What I Can Reverse Engineer
- Physical mechanical parts
- Replacement and discontinued components

FAQ
What can you provide for reverse engineering?
I can work from physical parts, 3D scans, point clouds, STL/OBJ meshes, photographs, measurements, sketches, or existing technical documentation. The available reference data determines the reconstruction approach.
Do I need to send you the physical part?
Not necessarily. If you cannot ship the physical component, I can work from accurate measurements, photographs, scan data, or other reference information. For complex or precision-critical parts, more detailed measurement data may be required.
Can you reverse engineer a 3D scan or STL file into CAD?
Yes. I can use 3D scans, point clouds, STL, OBJ, and other mesh references to reconstruct an editable CAD model. Depending on the geometry, the final model may use parametric solid, surface, or hybrid modeling techniques.
Will the final CAD model be editable?
Yes. Where the project requirements allow, I create an organized, parametric SolidWorks model rather than simply delivering an uneditable mesh. This allows dimensions and features to be modified later.
Can you recreate discontinued or replacement parts?
Yes. Reverse engineering is particularly useful for obsolete, discontinued, damaged, or undocumented components. I can recreate the available geometry so it can be further developed, prototyped, or prepared for manufacturing.
How accurate will the reconstructed model be?
Accuracy depends on the quality and resolution of the scan, measurements, photographs, and reference information provided. I do not claim a specific tolerance without appropriate measurement data. For production-critical components, inspection-grade measurements may be necessary.
Can you reverse engineer complex mechanical components?
Yes. I can work with components containing holes, pockets, bosses, threads, curved surfaces, mounting interfaces, and other mechanical features. Complex freeform geometry may require more detailed scan or measurement data.
Can you create a manufacturing drawing from the reverse-engineered model?
Yes. A 2D technical/manufacturing drawing can be created as an additional deliverable or included where specified by the selected package. Drawing requirements depend on the intended manufacturing process.
Can you modify the part after reverse engineering it?
Yes. Once the CAD model has been reconstructed, I can make design modifications, dimensional changes, feature additions, or other engineering updates based on your requirements. Larger modifications may require a separate scope.
What files will I receive?
Depending on your package, deliverables can include native SolidWorks files, STEP, IGES, STL, and PDF technical drawings. Additional formats can be discussed before ordering if your manufacturer or downstream workflow requires them.
