Will my data train OpenAI's public models or be shared with anyone else?
No. Your documents go into your custom GPT's private knowledge base, scoped to your GPT only. It never used for public model training.
What happens if the bot doesn't know an answer?
It's configured to say so rather than guess, and can point to a human or your support contact instead of hallucinating.
Do I need my own OpenAI account?
If you want a Custom GPT inside OpenAI's platform, a ChatGPT Plus/Team account is needed. However, if you want a custom chatbot embedded on your website, Slack, or WhatsApp via API, your website visitors do NOT need a ChatGPT account - only an OpenAI API key is needed to run the backend.
What's the difference between the Basic and Standard package?
Basic works fine for a handful of FAQs. Once you have real document volume (manuals, contracts, product catalogs), training ChatGPT on your data properly needs actual retrieval (Standard/Premium) - otherwise the bot starts giving vague or wrong answers because everything's crammed into one prompt.
Can I add more documents later?
Yes, all tiers include a way to update the knowledge base without rebuilding from scratch.
