About this Gig
September 1, 2026, is not negotiable.
That is the date every VATregistered business in France must be able to receive structured einvoices. Large companies must already issue them as well. And from 2027, all SMEs, microenterprises and freelancers will also be required to issue einvoices.
Penalties for noncompliance have already been increased for 2026:
- 50 per invoice issued outside approved platforms
- 500 per missing ereporting transmission
- Up to 1,000 every quarter for not appointing an Approved Platform
The old free public portal (PPF) is gone. Every business must now choose and onboard with a private Approved Platform (Plateforme Agréée PA).

FAQ
What is an Approved Platform (PA)?
A private software provider certified by the French tax authority to transmit e‑invoices and e‑reporting data. Every business must use one. Free PPF portal no longer exists.
What's the difference between receiving and issuing e‑invoices?
From 1 Sept 2026, ALL businesses must be able to receive them. Large companies must also issue. SMEs/freelancers start issuing on 1 Sept 2027.
Do I need to change my accounting software?
Not necessarily. Many PAs integrate with existing tools (Pennylane, QuickBooks, Sage). In Premium, I check compatibility and handle the connection.
What if I'm a freelancer or micro‑entrepreneur?
The reform applies to you too. From 1 Sept 2026 you must receive e‑invoices; from 1 Sept 2027 you must issue them. Most freelancers can get compliant for zero or a few euros per month.
