Beta Reader & Manuscript Critique
Authors • Freelance
Sep 2026 - Present • 1 mo
I help authors understand how their stories connect with readers through thoughtful, honest, and constructive beta reading feedback. My experience includes reviewing fiction manuscripts for character development, plot progression, pacing, story consistency, emotional impact, and overall readability. I pay close attention to character motivations, believable relationships, natural story progression, and whether key moments deliver the intended emotional effect. I also prepare detailed reader reports highlighting a manuscript’s strengths, areas that may need improvement, and opportunities to make the reading experience more engaging. My approach is personal, observant, and respectful of each author’s unique voice and creative vision. I aim to provide useful insights that help writers identify what works, recognize potential weaknesses, and make informed decisions during revision.
Children's Storybook Illustration and KDP Formatting (Ages 6–9)
Self Employed • Freelance
Sep 2026 - Sep 2026 • 0 mos
A client who is a mum came to me with a children's story she wrote for her son and kids aged 6–9 and needed help bringing it to life, both visually and in print. My role was to create the illustrations for the story and then format the book for Amazon KDP, making sure the artwork and words worked naturally together. I illustrated the story's scenes and arranged the visuals alongside the text, paying attention to how each page carried the story forward. I then formatted the interior for KDP, balancing the illustrations with readable text, maintaining consistency across the pages, and preparing the layout for the intended publishing format.
Amazon KDP Print and EPUB Formatting & Publishing

The client came to me with a completed manuscript that needed to be prepared for publication in both paperback and ebook formats. Each edition required its own formatting approach, so I worked on them separately rather than adapting one layout for both. For the print edition, I formatted the book interior and prepared a high quality, print ready PDF, paying close attention to typography, margins, page breaks, chapter openings, and overall consistency. For the ebook edition, I created a separate, reflowable EPUB, structuring the content to support a smooth reading experience across different screen sizes and devices. I also supported the publishing process for both editions on Amazon KDP, ensuring the final files were prepared for their respective formats. The result was separately formatted print edition and reflowable ebook edition, each prepared for its intended publishing format.
