I will add opentelemetry distributed tracing and observability to backend
Web Developer
About this Gig
Flying blind in production? I add OpenTelemetry distributed tracing to your Node.js backend so you can see exactly where requests slow down and fail - across every service.
WHAT I SET UP
- OpenTelemetry SDK instrumentation for Node.js / Express
- Automatic tracing for HTTP, database and external API calls
- Export to Jaeger, Grafana Tempo, or your OTLP collector
- Custom spans for your critical business flows
- Context propagation across services and queues
- A working docker-compose observability stack, if you need one
I have hands-on experience building OTLP span exporters and tracing worker systems - this is a specialist gig, not a copy-paste tutorial setup.
Message me with your stack and where your traces should go - I will confirm the setup fits before you order.

FAQ
Which observability backend do you support?
Any OTLP-compatible backend: Jaeger, Grafana Tempo, Datadog, Honeycomb, or your own collector.
Will this slow down my app?
No — sampling is configured so production overhead stays negligible.
My app is not Node.js, can you still help?
My specialty is Node.js/TypeScript. Message me about other stacks and I will tell you honestly if it fits.
Which backends do you support?
Node.js (Express, Fastify, NestJS basics) with PostgreSQL or MongoDB. Traces can go to Jaeger, Tempo, Honeycomb or any OTLP endpoint.
Will tracing slow my app down?
With sensible sampling, overhead is typically only a few percent — I will set the sampling rates together with you.
