FAQ
Does it need internet?
No. Alpha runs on your own computer and your data stays there. Internet is only used to activate the licence, to download updates and for optional phone alerts.
Will it slow down after years of use?
We tested it on five years of data (500 bills a day, 2.5 million sale lines). 124 of 127 screens and reports opened in under 1 second. The three slower ones (large reports) took 1.3 to 2.6 seconds. Alpha also tidies its database by itself every day.
Do I get the source code?
No. This gig is a licence to use Alpha, with setup help and updates. The source code is not included.
What happens when my plan ends?
Your data stays on your computer. To keep working you order the next plan here and I send a new licence code. Nothing has to be installed again.
Can it work in my country?
Yes. On first start you choose your country, and Alpha uses your currency and your tax names on screens, bills and reports. Screens are in English, with Urdu as an option.
Does it work with FBR (Pakistan)?
Yes. A Tier-1 retailer enters the POS ID and token issued by FBR, and every bill is reported to FBR. The bill prints the FBR invoice number and its QR code. Bills made while the internet is down are sent later by themselves.
Can I use my phone as a barcode scanner?
Yes, free. Install the Alpha Scanner app (Android) straight from the PC and pair it once with a QR code. After that it connects by itself whenever the PC is on, and every scan goes straight into the bill.
