I'm Rising, an avid reader and writer with over 15 years of experience reading all types of fantasy. You could say I'm obsessed. I also have a minor in creative writing where I took critique courses that centered around reading and providing constructive criticism on my peers' work. My fellow students voted my critiques the most helpful two semesters in a row, which I proudly took home along with the prize sweatshirt.
I look at your book from these perspectives:
- Enjoyment level--how did I find the book overall? Would I have kept reading it if I weren't obligated to?
- Plot & structure--did anything take me out of the story? Did I notice anything that was confusing?
- Characters--what relationships did I enjoy/not enjoy? Were their arcs and motivations satisfying?
- Prose & style--how did the narrator's voice impact my reading experience? Did any sentences/choices throw me off?

What's your feedback style?
My style is direct & kind. I will tell you in detail what I think works and what doesn't, but I will never be mean. I give compliments & criticism. Giving your book to someone is vulnerable and I treat every manuscript with the same level of respect as I would want someone to read my work with.
Why you? Aren't there less expensive options?
There are! And it's okay if my service isn't in your budget. Both my reader's letter and my in-line comments and highlights are extremely thorough (I read the book twice in most cases). I also often throw in some more developmental suggestions in my reader's note when they come to mind.
