What information or files do you need from me to begin the design?
The more details, the better! A hand-drawn sketch with rough dimensions, reference photos, or a 2D technical drawing works perfectly. If it is just a concept, a clear written description of its purpose and functionality is all I need to get started.
Can you modify or repair an existing 3D model I already have?
Yes! Whether you have a downloaded STL file that needs fixing or a STEP file requiring updates, I can repair or reverse-engineer it. Please message me your file before ordering so I can assess the geometry and provide an accurate quote.
How do you ensure the design won't fail during 3D printing?
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, I design for manufacturability. I ensure every model is manifold (watertight), has appropriate wall thicknesses, avoids unnecessary overhangs, and includes correct tolerances for your specific printer type (FDM, SLA, SLS).
What exactly is covered under a "revision"?
A revision covers minor modifications to the existing 3D model, such as tweaking a specific dimension, adjusting a tolerance for a better fit, or slightly altering a feature. It does not cover a complete redesign or introducing an entirely new concept.
What file formats do you provide upon delivery?
I provide industry-standard formats. For 3D printing, you get watertight STL, OBJ, or 3MF files. For CNC machining or future editing, I provide STEP, IGES, and native CAD source files (SolidWorks or Fusion 360).
Are commercial rights included for manufacturing and selling?
Yes, absolutely! Once the order is completed, you hold full commercial rights to manufacture, 3D print, and sell the physical products. I respect client confidentiality and will never reuse or resell your custom designs.
My design is too big for a standard 3D printer. How do we handle that?
No problem! I can strategically split large models into smaller, printable sections. To make post-printing assembly easy and structurally sound, I can add alignment pins, snap-fits, or dovetail joints so the final pieces fit together perfectly.
