What does the report actually look like? Is it just comments in my document?
No, it's a separate written document with consistent headers across every section: pacing, character, emotional impact, continuity, and an overall reader experience summary at the end. You'll know exactly what I was responding to and where in the manuscript.
Do you do line editing or grammar corrections?
That's not what this service is. Beta reading is about how the story reads and lands, if I'm catching comma, I'm not doing my job as a reader. This is entirely focused on structure, pacing, character, and emotional experience. If you need proofreading or copy editing, that's a separate service.
What's the difference between beta reading and an alpha read?
Alpha reading typically happens on earlier, rougher drafts — it's a higher-level gut-response read before significant revision. Beta reading is usually done on a more complete draft to assess how the finished story reads. Both are available here.
My manuscript is over 100,000 words. Can you still help?
Yes, but message me before ordering. Anything above 100k is handled on a custom quote. I don't want you purchasing the wrong package and having to sort it out after.
How do I send the manuscript?
As a Google Doc or .docx file after ordering. Please don't send PDFs, they're not practical for this kind of annotation and note-taking. A short note about your genre, target readership, and any areas you'd specifically like me to focus on will also make the feedback sharper.
