The truth is page speed matters, NOT the grade/score. The grade is just a parameter to check the issue.

Every speed checker tool will show different grades & they are not stable. They show different values every time.

It doesn't mean I can't increase your grade/score but it's not guaranteed. Score improvement depends on what kind of theme & plugin you are using. 

My own website speed is average. 1.5 sec because I use a light theme, a few plugins & a CDN with good optimization.

It is not possible to optimize the website using too many external files like Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Maps, etc...
