Embedded Linux MVP Development for Smart IoT Devices

Designed and developed a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) for an embedded Linux IoT platform based on Raspberry Pi and ESP32. The project focused on rapid prototyping while maintaining a clean, production-ready software architecture.

Key features included:

  • Camera integration and real-time video capture.
  • Environmental sensor acquisition over I2C/SPI interfaces.
  • BLE and Wi-Fi connectivity.
  • Local web dashboard for monitoring device status and sensor data.
  • Hardware control through GPIO, including LEDs, buttons, and external peripherals.
  • Background services for data collection, event handling, and system monitoring.
  • Modular Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) separating business logic from hardware-specific drivers, allowing the application to be tested with mocked hardware and easily ported to future platforms.

The software stack was developed using Python and C/C++ on Embedded Linux, emphasizing reliability, maintainability, and scalability. The architecture was designed to support future cloud integration, remote monitoring, notifications, and additional hardware modules without requiring major changes to the application logic.
