Before I started freelancing, I spent 2 years leading a link building team at Link Building Agency. Honestly, those 2 years taught me more than anything else, because I was not just building links, I was responsible for everything. The strategy, the team, the clients, it all came down to me. My job was to figure out what each client actually needed. Every website is different. Some needed guest posts on relevant niche blogs, some needed niche edits, some needed a mix of citations, web 2.0s, social signals and contextual backlinks. Guest posting was actually one of our strongest services, I personally built relationships with hundreds of blog owners across different niches, negotiated placements and made sure every guest post went live on a site that had real traffic and genuine authority, not just a good DA number. I also trained my team from scratch. I taught them how to find high authority sites, how to do proper blogger outreach, how to write outreach emails that actually get replies, how to maintain a natural anchor text ratio, and why we never touch PBNs or any shortcut that could put a client's site at risk. Quality over quantity was the rule, always. Client communication was also part of my daily routine. I handled reporting, answered questions, managed expectations and made sure every campaign was delivering real results — better domain authority, stronger backlink profiles and actual keyword movement in Google. Looking back, those 2 years gave me a very solid foundation. I understood off-page SEO not just as a task but as a complete system, where link velocity, dofollow nofollow ratio, diversification and content relevance all work together to build something Google genuinely trusts.
