What do you see when you click on the table of contents button on your eBook reader? It is called the NCX.
NCX is NOT the table of contents you see when you flip through your Knidle eBook or ePub. It is a navigation method that is integrated to the Meta data of the eBook. All modern eBook readers and apps use the NCX as the default navigation for the ebooks.
Non fiction books with a good NCX can provide a greater level of ease to the reader, to go from one title to another without the need to go back to the HTML TOC every time. Simply click the table of contents button.
And you won't lose the current reading position trying to see what headings are up ahead.
