What exactly is matchmoving and 3D camera tracking?
Matchmoving is the process of analyzing your live-action footage to reconstruct the exact movement of the real-world camera in 3D space. This virtual camera is then used to composite CGI elements, objects, characters, effects that move in perfect sync with the original shot.
What footage formats do you accept for camera tracking?
I work with MP4, MOV, AVI, and image sequences (EXR, PNG, JPEG). For best matchmove accuracy, please share the highest quality version of your footage. avoid heavily compressed or re-exported files if possible.
Which software do you export the camera tracking data for?
I deliver solved camera data compatible with Blender, After Effects, 3ds Max, Nuke, Maya, and Cinema 4D. Just mention your software when ordering and I'll format the export accordingly.
My footage is shaky. can you still do the matchmove?
Handheld and shaky footage is something I handle regularly. That said, extremely blurry, low-resolution, or heavily compressed clips can limit tracking accuracy. Message me first and I'll assess your footage for free before you order.
Can you do object tracking as well as camera tracking?
Yes. rigid object tracking (screens, cars, props, signage) is included in the Standard and Premium packages. For non-rigid or face tracking, message me first so we can discuss feasibility for your specific shot.
What do I receive when the matchmove is complete?
You'll receive the solved 3D camera animation, a scene with ground plane and scale reference, and an export in your requested format, fully labeled and ready to bring into your compositing or 3D software.
