In 5+ years of experience and my own application to medical school and residency, I have edited hundreds of essays and seen the same tropes, same mistakes. Schools are bored of essays that simply list qualities, read like resumes, or tell stories that fail to demonstrate genuine character. Application season is more overwhelming than ever due to increasing competition, confusion about "what the committee is looking for," and the burden of more essays than you can keep track of. With all this work, it is easy for your writing to become sloppy or even "overly" professional, trapped by the misconception that you must fit a set checklist of requirements AND have overcome some great disaster AND have started a nonprofit organization AND have become an accomplished artist or band leader. Don't get caught up in trying to narrate a certain "you" that is inauthentic. The truth is, you don't need an extraordinary event or turning point, but you do need to know sincerely tell your story in a way that indicates self-insight, proves an ability to overcome challenges (no matter how small), and shows your vision of the future! FAQ
How do I send my essays?
You can email them to me at an address I will provide. I accept Microsoft and Apple documents sent as .doc or links to an online document such as with Google. I use "track changes" to edit.
What exactly will my edited essay look like? What does it include? Will you re-write any of it?
I edit for grammar and content. Content includes ideas, flow, voice, syntax. Additionally, I ensure your word limit is met, or I provide instructions on how to make it meet your limit. All edits made in "track changes" mode. Extensive advice and examples are typed, but I NEVER insert content.
What if I need my essays faster than you offer?
If you need something done quickly, pricing is available to make that possible as long as I first review the request and ensure that it is possible in the stated time. Contact me for specific requests!
After I get my edits, what if I need more help?
Standard and Premium packages include 1 revision. A revision is when I review your essays after you have edited them a second time following my original edits. If you need revisions beyond the one included, you can add it on! See more information regarding "REVISION limit" in the FAQ section.
What is a REVISION limit?
A revision is an additional edit after the original. Not available for Basic packages. Also available as an add on. Please note, a revision is NOT an entire 2nd edit as this is too time consuming. It is SCAN for grammar and a SCAN for changes made based on advice given. It will NOT exceed 30 min.
