I will developmental edit your fiction manuscript or novel
Author, Editor, Narrative Specialist
About this Gig
You know your story has something--you just need another set of eyes to see what's working, what isn't, and what could make it stronger.
I'm an author, editor, and independent publisher with 10+ years of experience developing fiction and helping writers strengthen their manuscripts. I've published 40+ works of my own and supported 20+ authors through the writing and publishing process.
My developmental edits look beyond grammar and punctuation to the story itself. I'll evaluate your manuscript for structure, plot and logic, pacing, character development and arcs, relationships and chemistry, dialogue, continuity, emotional impact, themes, scene effectiveness, and opportunities to expand, cut, or restructure.
You'll receive an annotated manuscript with clear, actionable feedback--not vague notes telling you something isn't working. I'll show you where I see an issue, explain why it matters, and help you understand your options for strengthening it.
I dont rewrite your story into the book I would have written. My job is to understand what you're trying to create and help you make that version stronger.

FAQ
What is developmental editing, and how is it different from proofreading or line editing?
Developmental editing focuses on the story as a whole—structure, plot, pacing, character development, relationships, continuity, emotional impact, themes, and scene effectiveness. Line editing and proofreading focus more closely on the language, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics of the manuscript.
What genres do you edit?
I work primarily with fiction across a variety of genres, including romance, contemporary fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, literary fiction, young adult, suspense, and more. If you’re unsure whether your manuscript is a good fit, feel free to message me before ordering.
Will you rewrite my manuscript or change my writing voice?
No. My goal is not to turn your manuscript into the book I would have written. I’ll identify opportunities to strengthen the story, explain why something may or may not be working, and offer actionable recommendations while respecting your voice, vision, and creative choices.
What if my manuscript is longer than the word count included in my package?
No problem. Additional word count can be added to your order in 10,000-word increments. Choose the package that best matches the level of developmental support you need, then add any additional words required for your manuscript.
What will I receive when the developmental edit is complete?
You’ll receive your annotated manuscript with detailed developmental feedback and actionable recommendations for strengthening your story. Deliverables vary by package, with Premium also including series development guidance when applicable.
