I will debug and fix your crash, memory leak or weird bug

About this gig
Does your C++ program crash, leak memory, or behave in a way that makes no sense? That is the kind of problem I solve. I have worked with C++ on Windows for years and debugging is my favorite part of the job.
The bugs I get called in for are usually the ones nobody else could figure out. Random crashes, heap corruption, race conditions, memory leaks. I do not guess and I do not stack workarounds. I find the real cause, fix it properly and explain what happened in plain language.
What you get:
- Root cause analysis, not a band aid
- The fix as a clean code diff or patch
- A short explanation of what was wrong
- Verification that the problem is gone
I work with Visual Studio, CMake, multithreaded apps and legacy code. Windows is my main platform, Linux is fine too.
Please message me before ordering with a short bug description and any stack trace or error output you have. I will confirm I can help and tell you how long I need before you spend anything.

FAQ
What kind of bugs can you fix?
Mostly the hard ones: crashes, access violations, memory leaks, heap corruption, race conditions and deadlocks, and random behavior that cannot be reproduced on demand. Simple logic errors are welcome too.
What do you need from me to start?
A description of the bug, your compiler and platform, and if possible a stack trace, error message or crash dump. The more I get, the faster I find the cause.
What if you cannot find the bug?
Then you pay nothing. If I cannot identify the root cause I cancel the order with a full refund. In practice this almost never happens.
Do you fix bugs in legacy code?
Yes, older codebases are actually where I am most useful. C style code, old Visual Studio projects, third party libraries without documentation, all fine.
Will you refactor or rewrite my whole project?
No, unless you ask for it separately. I keep changes as small and focused as possible so the fix does not introduce new problems somewhere else.
