Eighteen years running branch operations at Truist across the Greenville and Spartanburg markets. Started as a teller at 21, ended as a Branch Manager II at Vice President level, managing a portfolio of small business and consumer relationships worth hundreds of millions. The real work wasn't processing loans. It was sitting across the table from small business owners, helping them untangle financials, structure financing, and figure out what made their companies grow versus what held them back. Almost two decades of that teaches you to spot patterns most consultants never see — because they're reading about small business, not sitting with one every day. I mentored. Three of the people I trained went on to run the largest branches in the Upstate. Leadership sent me to open new markets, stabilize underperforming offices, and develop the next generation of bankers. When I left in 2022 to go all-in on technology, writing, and consulting, I took that institutional knowledge with me. Every website I build, every essay I write, every consulting engagement — it's informed by real years in the room where small business decisions actually happen. I don't theorize about what entrepreneurs need. I've sat with thousands of them.
