How the tracking works:
After a successful payment, the customer is redirected to the Thank You page. Using the Checkout Session ID from the URL, a server-side request fetches the transaction details from Stripe or PayPal. This purchase data is then pushed to GTM.

Can you track purchases if my checkout is hosted on Stripe or PayPal?
Even if GTM cannot be installed on the checkout page, I can implement a reliable tracking solution using the success URL, Session ID and sGTM integration to track completed purchases accurately.
Do I need Server-side GTM?
Not always. If your project requires a more reliable and privacy-friendly tracking solution, I recommend Server-side GTM. For simpler implementations, Web GTM may be sufficient.
