About this Gig
Over the word or character limit? I will professionally shorten your completed draft while preserving its meaning, structure, and voice.
I regularly reduce:
- Personal statements and application essays
- Essays and assignments
- Reports and proposals
- Professional statements and written applications
- Presentations and other concise written content
I can edit your document to a specified word or character limit, removing repetition, unnecessary wording and lower-priority content while improving clarity and flow.
Your edit can include:
- Word-count reduction
- Sentence and paragraph tightening
- Grammar, punctuation and wording improvements
- Structural changes where necessary
- Microsoft Word Track Changes
Please note: substantial reductions require editorial judgement about which material is least essential. If you need to remove more than approximately 25% of the original text, or your document is unusually long or complex, please contact me before ordering.
This service focuses on editing your completed draft. It does not include fact checking, reference checking, academic formatting or original writing.
No word limit? My proofreading and editing gig will usually be the better choice.

FAQ
Which package should I choose?
Choose according to the length of your original document and the amount that needs to be removed. Basic is best for light reductions, while Standard and Premium accommodate longer texts and more substantial editing. Please contact me first if you need to remove more than approximately 25%.
What types of documents can you shorten?
Personal statements, application essays, essays, assignments, reports, proposals, presentations and many other academic or professional documents. For full theses, dissertations or other long documents, please contact me before ordering.
Do you use AI tools?
I may use professional editing and AI-assisted tools as part of my workflow, but I personally review and approve all edits before delivery. If your institution or organisation has specific restrictions, please let me know when ordering.
Can you meet an exact word or character limit?
Yes. Please provide the required limit when ordering. If reaching it would require unusually substantial changes or removal of essential content, I will let you know.
I only need proofreading and editing. Is this gig right for me?
If you do not need the text shortened to a specific limit, my proofreading and editing gig will usually be the better choice.
Will you fact check my text too?
No. I may flag obvious inconsistencies I notice while editing, but fact checking, source verification and reference checking are outside the scope of this service.
Do you provide formatting?
No. I focus on the written content. Document design and complex formatting are not included.
