About me
I'm Héctor Castrillón, a Senior Concept Artist with 7+ years in sci-fi hard surface design — vehicles, mechs, weapons, spacecraft, and book covers for games, publishing, and product development.
My process is hybrid: 3D-aided pipeline (VR, Blender, Substance Painter, Plasticity) for structure, then Photoshop for final illustration. The result is concept art that looks production-ready and holds up under scrutiny.
From ideation to final render. Based in Colombia, working globally. behind it, that's exactly what I deliver.

Jan 2022 - Oct 2023 • 1 yr 9 mos
During that time, I was responsible for designing spaceships, buildings, characters, and skins for the entire game development process. My role was essentially that of a Senior Concept Artist. A key part of my work involved constantly learning and experimenting with new techniques, both to refine my own skills and to share that knowledge with the rest of the team. I would then integrate those insights into improved workflows that could benefit the project as a whole.

An extremely talented and professional individual. I approached Hector with a dynamic idea; not only did he deliver, but he affirmed he was the right choice from day one. And trust me, as someone non-artistically inclined, I did not make it easy on him! From constant updates, to a clear line of communication,...

There's not too much to go into detail about, as all I can really say is that Hector exceeded my expectations completely. He was a proactive communicator, diligent in his work and exceptionally accommodating, even when I made a revision request late into the project. On top of all this, he met my accelerated...

Fantastic experience from start to finish. I came in with a pretty specific and detailed creative brief, and he took the time to really understand the vision rather than just rushing through it. The communication throughout was excellent, quick responses, thoughtful questions, and a genuine willingness...
