Youth Development Program Director | Youth Development Director | Child Care Team Lead

YMCA

Aug 2016 - Present10 yrs 1 mo

Progressed through increasingly responsible leadership and operations roles with the YMCA, moving from team leadership into center and multi-site program management. My work included handling parent and family concerns, supervising and training staff, onboarding new employees, coordinating schedules and substitute coverage, reviewing payroll and timesheets, maintaining required documentation, managing supplies and budgets, supporting curriculum delivery, and helping ensure safety and operational procedures were followed consistently. As Youth Development Director, I oversaw day-to-day childcare center operations. I worked directly with staff and families to resolve concerns, review incidents, reinforce expectations, and maintain organized, consistent service delivery. In my final role as Youth Development Program Director at Monty Ballard YMCA, I directed seven program sites, supervised approximately 30 employees, and co-led summer camp operations serving about 200 children each week with more than 50 staff members. When service problems or recurring concerns arose, I worked with staff and leadership to understand what happened, determine whether procedures were followed, address the immediate issue, and identify where communication, coverage, documentation, training, or follow-through was needed to improve. I then reinforced expectations, adjusted operational processes where needed, and monitored consistency across locations. These efforts helped reduce recurring complaints, improve issue resolution, and create a more consistent experience for children and families.
