I've spent several years editing for a YouTube channel in this space, joining at around 15,000 subscribers and staying through its growth past 120,000. One of my edits for them has passed 5.4 million views, and my work has surpassed 10.8 million views in total.
Essay work is its own discipline. Source material comes from everywhere - film clips, archive interviews, screen recordings, stock all at different resolutions and frame rates. That gets handled so the finished piece looks like one film. B-roll is chosen to land on the line it illustrates, and the cut is paced to hold attention across a long runtime.
Send your script or voiceover with whatever footage you have. If you've only got audio, I can source the visuals and build around it. Colour grading, sound mixing and subtitles are included in every package, with titles, lower thirds and basic keying from Standard up.
I work in DaVinci Resolve and Premiere Pro, delivering up to 4K in any format.

I'm a video editor from the UK with a degree in Film and Television Production from Greenwich University, London.
I started out editing broadcast content at London Live, working alongside senior editors and execs. From there I moved into short film, producing award-winning projects including The Twin Theory, which won Best Post-Production, then into YouTube, editing for creators with audiences over 120,000. Alongside my own production business, I work full-time as a Video Production Executive for one of the UK's largest water companies.

What do you need from me to start?
Your script or voiceover, plus whatever footage you've gathered. Reference videos help too — if there's a channel or style you want it to feel like, send a link and I'll work to that.
What if I only have a script or voiceover and no footage?
That's fine, and it's common with essays. I'll source stock and archive visuals and build the video around your audio. Free-to-use sources are included. Paid stock or licensed music gets flagged first and passed on at cost.
Can you work with film clips and copyrighted material?
Yes, and it's standard for analysis and commentary work. You're responsible for your own fair use or fair dealing position and any claims - I'll cut what you send and source what I can.
What counts as a revision?
Changes within the agreed brief - swapping shots, adjusting pacing, fixing timings, tweaking the grade or mix. A change of direction or a new script would be a new project. I'll always say up front which one it is.
Do you take on ongoing work?
Yes, and it suits essays well. If you're publishing to a schedule, message me and we'll set up a rate that works better than ordering one at a time.
