I collaborated with German author Nancy Richter as the French translator of her fantasy novels. Nancy Richter writes M/M fantasy stories strongly inspired by Japanese aesthetics and mythology, set in a richly developed fictional universe. For this project, I translated one standalone novel and a full trilogy from German into French. A key aspect of the work involved adapting the invented terminology and fictional language used throughout the series so that it would sound natural, consistent, and immersive for French readers while remaining faithful to the tone and structure of the original German text. This collaboration required careful attention to world-building, terminology consistency across multiple books, and the emotional nuance of the characters’ relationships.
