Key responsibilities included: Processing and tracking community care referrals and authorizations Verifying veteran eligibility for VA Community Care benefits Coordinating between VA staff, community providers, and veterans to resolve scheduling and authorization issues Explaining benefits, referral status, and next steps to veterans in clear, accessible language Maintaining accurate records in VA scheduling and referral systems This role gave me direct, hands-on knowledge of how the VA benefits and referral system actually works — the same knowledge I now bring to helping veterans navigate claims, exams, and benefits questions.
