I will set up pytest API tests with a ci quality gate for your service
Python Automation Engineer, AI Agents, Web Scraping, APIs
About this Gig
Your API works today. Will it still work after next week's release? I write the pytest suite that answers that question - and wire it into CI so nobody has to remember to run it.
WHAT YOU GET
- A layered pytest suite: fast unit checks, API contract tests, and a short end-to-end path
- Data-driven cases: new scenarios are added by editing YAML, not by rewriting code
- A coverage report with a threshold gate: the build fails if coverage drops below the line we agree on
- Optional CI: a GitHub Actions workflow, matrix across two Python versions, reports uploaded as artifacts
HOW I WORK
- I read your API docs (or your handlers) first and send you a short test plan before writing code
- I do not ship tests that "always pass" - assertions are specific and they fail loudly when they should
- If I find a real defect, I report it with a minimal reproduction and keep that case as xfail(strict), so it turns red the moment someone fixes it - nothing gets silently ignored
Send me your API docs or your repository link and I will tell you the right tier and delivery time.
Delivery time assumes I receive working API access (docs, or a repo with a test environment) on day one.

FAQ
What exactly do I get?
A runnable pytest suite for the flows we agree on, a written report (results, issues found, recommendations) and a README with one command to run it. The tiers differ in the number of cases, layers and extras shown in the packages.
What do you need from me to start?
Read access to your repo or your API docs (OpenAPI/Swagger preferred), a way to reach a test environment, and how authentication works. The delivery clock assumes I receive these on day one.
What counts as a revision?
Adjustments to the cases we agreed on (checks added, changed or removed) within the same scope. New modules, new services or a different API are a new order.
What if my API has real bugs?
I report them with a minimal reproduction and keep the failing case marked xfail(strict), so it turns red the moment someone fixes it. Fixing production code is not part of this service.
Do you guarantee my API is bug-free?
No - I test the flows we agree on and report what I find. Testing reduces risk; it cannot prove the absence of defects.
What is NOT included?
Fixing production code, performance/load testing, security/penetration testing, mobile app testing, and third-party systems I cannot access. Ask first - I will tell you honestly if I can take it.
Which stacks and CI systems do you cover?
Python: pytest, requests/httpx, pydantic. I work mostly with FastAPI - Django and Flask use the same pytest patterns. CI on GitHub Actions (GitLab CI on request).
Are my credentials and data safe?
API keys stay in environment variables, never hard-coded in the suite. I use the test accounts and data you provide, and I keep no copy of your credentials after delivery.
Can you keep writing tests after this order?
Yes. The suite is plain pytest, so anyone can run it. When your API changes and the suite needs updating, message me for a follow-up order - or we can set up a monthly block of test work.
