About this gig
For US, Canada & European market, Website accessibility has become mandatory since January 2021. Accessible websites ensure all potential users, including people with disabilities, have a decent user experience and are able to easily access your information. Accessibility best practices also ensure usability of the site for all users.
My job is to make sure your web pages comply all the industry standards ( AA/ WCAG 2.1 ADA, AODA, Section 508 ) and help you avoid penalties and lawsuits. Along with the use of automated tools, I perform manual testing to ensure website is fully functional and accessible by visually impaired users or those with hearing difficulties. I also write custom code to cater assistive tools like NVDA, JAWS and other screen readers. The standards I follow include W3C-WAI ( Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, ARIA 1.1, Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG) and User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG).

There are various authorities running the standards, most recognised is W3 https://www.w3.org
How do I know my website is not accessible ?
There are various online tools that can perform audits against set standards. There are three set levels, A,AA and AAA (WCAG 2.1). For commercial websites, it is mandatory to meet AA level. Other government and military domains related sites should comply AAA standards.
What are the common accessibility issues ?
