I will be your end to end linux administrator
Quality service delivered with a smile
About this Gig
Linux infrastructure is my craft. I specialize in building and maintaining self-hosted systems that stay fast, secure, and easy to recover. My approach blends three strengths rarely found together:
- End-to-end automation from Kickstart to system packaging, netboot, backups, scripting, and custom systemd services, I build repeatable deployments that reduce admin friction to near zero and cut costs
- Integrated observability and resilience I design environments with versioned rollback and live diagnostics to eliminate guesswork during failures.
- Cross-platform migration expertise I offer my SelfTQ tooling to bridge Windows and Linux environments, allowing teams to modernize without data loss or retraining chaos.
- Secure by default Implementing best practices at the onset to avoid surprises later
I manage server setup, tuning, and security hardening with precision, ensuring predictable performance under load. Backup systems, SELinux enforcement, and transparent recovery workflows are standard, not optional.
If you need Linux infrastructure and administration that installs cleanly, scales predictably, and survives failure gracefully, I can deliver it.
FAQ
Can you automate our server builds or migrations?
This is my preference! I use Kickstart, cloud-init, and RPM packaging to deliver reproducible installations. I am working on tooling that automates Windows-to-Linux transitions through software called GWinToLin.
What about security hardening?
I enforce SELinux, manage SSH key policies, monitor integrity, and use least-privilege defaults. Security is part of every build, not an afterthought. Also, context is important. What is the threat and compliance environment? A network file server is quite different than an access relay host.
Do you offer monitoring solutions?
Yes! Network monitoring is critical to maintaining high uptime and detecting technical problems before they become customer problems.
Do you offer backup solutions?
Absolutely! I prefer to integrate ZFS snapshots and image-based backups so recovery is fast and verifiable.
How do you start a new project?
Your needs are discussed and evaluated until they are clearly understood. Once that's accomplished, solutions are presented until an ideal fit is found. After converting these into measurable criteria and agreed upon, they are implemented with careful consideration to cost management.
What if something breaks after deployment?
Where possible, every plan has a rollback strategy or a "Plan B". Where it makes sense, every plan has been implemented offline and tested. Where possible, implementation is automatic to reduce/eliminate human error. Reverting changes should be built into the process.
