Self confidence

Growing up, my relationship with self-confidence was anything but straightforward. I spent years viewing confidence as a static trait—something people were either born with or lacked entirely. In social settings and professional environments, I often found myself hesitating, second-guessing my contributions, and waiting for external validation before feeling secure in my abilities. Every mistake felt like proof that I wasn’t ready, and every challenge felt like an exam I was destined to fail. The turning point came when I realized that confidence isn't the absence of fear or doubt; it is the willingness to act despite them. I began shifting my perspective from needing to be perfect to being willing to learn. Instead of avoiding situations where I might mess up, I deliberately started stepping into uncomfortable spaces. I volunteered to speak first in meetings, took on projects slightly outside my comfort zone, and stopped treating failure as a reflection of my worth. Through this gradual exposure, my confidence transformed from a fragile emotion into a muscle built through action. I discovered that competence breeds confidence. The more I prepared, practiced, and survived difficult moments, the more my brain registered a crucial truth: even if things go wrong, I have the resilience to handle the outcome.
