FAQ
Do I need to provide the 3D model?
Yes — all packages assume you provide the 3D model. Most product companies already have one from CAD, marketing renders, or their catalogue. If yours isn't web-ready, I offer optimization as an add-on. If you have no model at all, message me before ordering and I'll quote modelling separately.
What file formats do you accept?
glTF and GLB work best for the web and need no conversion. I also accept OBJ, FBX, STL, and CAD formats like STEP and IGES. CAD and high-poly files need optimization before they run in a browser — that's the add-on below.
My model is a huge CAD file. Can you still use it?
Yes. CAD and high-poly models aren't built for browsers, so I convert and optimize them: mesh reduction, LOD generation, compression, and texture optimization. This keeps quality while getting load times down to a few seconds. Priced per model as an add-on.
Can it connect to my Shopify / WooCommerce store?
Yes. I can wire the configurator to your product catalogue, pass the chosen configuration into the cart, and calculate price from your option rules. Tell me your platform before ordering so I can scope it.
Can customers save or share their configuration?
Yes — included in Premium, available as an add-on for Standard. Configurations get a unique URL that restores the exact setup, which is useful for sharing with a sales rep or returning to later.
How many options can the configurator handle?
Basic is a viewer, so no options. Standard covers up to 10. Premium has no fixed limit and includes rule-based logic — where certain combinations are invalid or one choice constrains another. Complex rule systems are usually a Premium job.
What do you need from me to start?
The 3D model files, your complete option and variant list, pricing rules if the configurator shows prices, and details about the site it will live on. The clearer the option list, the faster this goes.
Do you handle hosting and deployment?
I deliver production-ready code and can deploy to your infrastructure or to Azure. Ongoing hosting costs are yours; I can advise on the cheapest setup for your traffic.
