I will build and test binaural spatial audio rendering with measured hrtfs

Level 1
About this gig
Most spatial audio is judged by ear. I engineer it and measure whether it works.
I build and test binaural rendering: the code that places a sound at any direction around the listener on headphones. I use measured head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) and check every direction against the cues the brain uses to locate sound.
WHAT I DO
- Load and check HRTF sets in SOFA format (KEMAR, SADIE, CIPIC or your own)
- Render any mono sound at any azimuth and elevation
- Ambisonics encoding and binaural decoding
- Room reverb from measured or simulated room responses
- Headphone EQ and loudness matching
HOW I CHECK IT
Every order includes a cue report: interaural time and level differences per direction compared with a head model, plus the spectral cues for elevation and front-back. You see where the rendering is accurate and where it is not.
GOOD FOR
XR and game developers, hearing and audio start-ups, researchers running listening tests.

FAQ
Which HRTF sets can you use?
Any set in SOFA format: public ones such as MIT KEMAR, SADIE II, CIPIC or FABIAN, or your own measured or personalised HRTFs. I check the set for errors before I use it.
What do I receive?
Commented Python or MATLAB code, rendered WAV examples and a PDF cue report. The Engine package adds ambisonics, room reverb, headphone EQ and an automated test suite.
Can you put it into Unity, Unreal or a plugin?
I deliver tested reference code and filter files (SOFA or WAV) that your developers can port. The test suite then confirms the port gives the same output. Message me first if you need a specific engine.
Does it run in real time?
The code processes audio block by block, the way a real-time engine does. For a product, your engine runs the port and my test suite checks it against the reference.
Do you do Dolby Atmos music mixing?
No. I engineer and test the rendering itself. For creative music mixing, an Atmos mixing engineer is the right choice.
Can you prepare a localisation listening test?
Yes. Add the listening test extra: balanced binaural stimuli with randomised directions, a metadata file and level calibration notes.
