You've completed your book draft (nonfiction or fiction), and you're happy with the overall content. Before final layout and publishing, you need a professional to look over the text, maximize readability and flow, and catch all errors and typos.
Line editing, copy editing, and proofreading are what you need. I'm happy to help! These tasks overlap, so I often combine them for simplicity & cost-efficiency.
Line/copy editing involves:
- Fixing mechanics - Punctuation, grammar, spelling
- Improving clarity, readability, and flow - Awkward/confusing wording, word choice, sentence structure, precision
- Ensuring consistency - Narrator/author/character voice, contradictions, logic problems, fact-checking
- Adjusting style (format & language conventions) to fit the genre/audience/purpose
Note: Price depends on content type and level of work. Gig packages are examples. For book-length line/copy editing projects, I'll assess your text and make up a custom offer to fit your project needs.
Nonfiction: science, technology, healthcare, medicine, self-help, etc.

Explain the difference between line/copy editing, manuscript evaluation, developmental editing.
A manuscript evaluation looks at big-picture elements. Developmental editing digs into your storytelling strategy at the scene & paragraph levels. Line editing refines the wording of sentences for engagement, readability, and flow. Copy editing focuses on grammar, typos, and consistency.
What file types do you accept?
Submitted files should be in Microsoft Word format (.docx or .doc) or can be converted to .docx from many other programs, including Google Docs, Pages, OpenOffice/LibreOffice, and Scrivener formats. If you need help with file conversion, I’m more than happy to help!
Do you use Word's track changes feature?
Yes, I use Word’s change tracking (changes will also be viewable in Google Docs & LibreOffice). You can respond to comments and accept/reject changes one at a time or in bulk.
What is a free revision?
Request a revision after delivery if you want me to make additional changes or check minor changes you've made. If you significantly rewrite already-edited content or add significantly more words, then it may not qualify for a free revision. No problem! We can always add an extra fee to cover it.
Do you use AI or online tools for editing?
I do NOT use AI editing tools. All of my edits are done manually in Microsoft Word. Your manuscript is NOT uploaded to public online tools unless you specifically request it.
