FAQ
What types of manuscripts do you work on?
I work on fiction and nonfiction manuscripts, including novels, memoirs, self-help books, business books, biographies, children books and other long-form projects.
What's the difference between developmental editing, line editing, and copy editing?
Developmental editing focuses on the big picture, such as structure, pacing, plot, and organization. Line editing improves style, clarity, and flow at the sentence level. Copy editing corrects grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency issues.
Do you provide proofreading services?
Yes. Proofreading is available as the final stage of editing and focuses on catching any remaining errors before publication
Can you ghostwrite my book from an idea or outline?
Absolutely. I can transform your concept, notes, outline, or rough draft into a professionally written manuscript while maintaining your intended voice and vision
Will my manuscript remain confidential?
Yes. All projects are treated with complete confidentiality. I never share, distribute, or claim ownership of any client's work
Do you use Track Changes when editing?
Yes. All editing is completed using Track Changes in Microsoft Word so you can easily review, accept, or reject suggested revisions
What file formats do you accept?
I primarily work with Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) files. If you have another format, please contact me before ordering
How do I know which editing service I need?
If you're unsure, send me a message with details about your manuscript. I'll review your goals and recommend the most appropriate service level
Do you offer a sample edit?
Yes. A short sample edit can be provided upon request so you can evaluate my editing style before placing a larger order
How long will my project take?
Delivery time depends on the manuscript length, complexity, and service required. Please contact me before ordering large projects so I can provide an accurate timeline

Ongoing collaborationI have now sent Ava four chapters of this novel and each time I come to her with some variation of 'I think this bit is a mess but I can't tell why' and each time she identifies exactly what the problem is with a clarity I find both impressive and slightly humbling. Great work Ava.
