What is the difference between proofreading, copyediting, and line editing?
Proofreading corrects final surface errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, and capitalization. Copyediting addresses grammar, word usage, and consistency. Line editing focuses more closely on clarity, sentence flow, tone, rhythm, and readability.
How does your editing process work?
I review your manuscript, word count, genre, goals, and preferred English style to confirm the right level of editing. I then edit in Microsoft Word using Track Changes and complete a consistency review. You’ll receive the edited manuscript with comments or revision suggestions where helpful.
What will I receive after the editing is completed?
You’ll receive your edited manuscript with tracked changes so you can review each correction. Depending on the service agreed upon, I may also add comments about unclear passages, inconsistencies, or decisions that need your input.
Do you edit both English and translated manuscripts?
Yes. I edit books originally written in English and books translated into English. For translated manuscripts, I improve overly literal wording, unnatural sentences, awkward dialogue, and inconsistent terminology while respecting the author’s intended tone and voice.
