About this Gig
Hi, I'm Joy - I edit for indie authors, and I know a new author's budget is real, so let me be clear about what you get.
This gig is a proofread-and-polish pass on your manuscript: I read the whole book and fix typos, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, smooth out consistency issues, and flag sentences that read awkwardly so you can decide how to handle them. You'll get your manuscript back with tracked changes in Word, plus a short summary of the main things I found.
What this isn't: a rewrite, or a structural/developmental edit. If your story needs big-picture work, I'm not the right gig - but if your book is written and needs a careful final pass before it goes out, that's exactly what I do.
I specialize in romance and fantasy, and I'm happy to look at other fiction too. Message me before ordering if your manuscript is longer than 50,000 words or you're on a deadline, and we'll work out a custom offer.
Delivery times are set generously on purpose - I'd rather hand you a careful edit on time than a rushed one early.

What file format do I need to send?
Please send your manuscript as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) file. This allows me to use the Track Changes feature so you can see every edit I make and choose whether to accept or reject them.
What happens if I have more than 5,000 words?
No problem! You can either use the "Additional Words" extra at checkout, or simply send me a message with your word count and I will send you a Custom Offer tailored to your specific manuscript length.
