I'd been struggling with the structure of these rules - Julia's review helped imagine a revised approach while also smoothing a few rough edges.
About this gig
I will proofread your rules for your board game or TTRPG. I'm better than spellcheck, generative AI, and Grammarly because I look at everything in context and help you understand why one word may work better than another for your audience. I'm fast and efficient. I've worked with publishers and indie designers on over 50 rulebooks in the last three years. I love board games and understand the medium - so you get feedback from a player, designer, and editor. I do not work on generative AI created or assisted content.

I'm Julia, a former theatre kid and current board game adult specializing in proofreading and editing rulebooks for board games. Let me read all your cards, components, descriptions, and rules, and make sure they are clear and correct.
FAQ
I used generative AI to help me make this game. Will you edit it?
I do not work on generative AI created or assisted content. This text tends to require more work than human written text. These rulebooks often require rewriting. There are also many ethical reasons I do not edit work created by or with AI. Please use your incredible human brain to make cool games.
Will you sign an NDA?
No. In order to protect myself as a game designer I will not sign an NDA to edit your rulebook.
Will you design my game for me?
No, that is not a service I offer.
What programs do you use?
I use Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Word for proofreading and editing. I am fluent in the full fleet of Adobe Creative Suite products and Microsoft Office.
Can I see a writing or editing sample?
Of course! Send me a message and I'll send you my portfolio.

Julia is an excellent and meticulous editor. However, I was ultimately dissatisfied with my experience working with her, as I found her approach rather unprofessional. My request was straightforward: to edit the English text of my board game's rulebook and make it clear, polished, and easy to understand. Unfortunately,...
