I will proofread your book manuscript according to industry standards
adept proofreader, skilled copy editor, specialist in nonfiction
About this Gig
I will proofread your work for spelling and grammatical errors, typos, missing or misused punctuation, and consistency. I pride myself on being an expert in both the Chicago Manual of Style and English-language standards.
I will work in either Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or Adobe Reader, depending on the type of document you have. I will use track changes in Word, suggesting mode in Google, or sticky notes and Adobe Reader features in a PDF. The industry standard is to proofread after the book has been laid out in PDF format, but I've worked in each of these formats, and I'm comfortable with the features of each.
I will leave comments throughout if I have clarifying questions on my edits. I'll never change something that I'm not 100 percent sure reflects your intentions. Additionally, I'll leave an overall comment to you regarding the main changes I made to your MS.
I can't wait to make your book the excellent, polished piece it deserves to be.

FAQ
How do your rates work?
My rates depend entirely on word count. I charge $0.025/word for proofreading. To get the correct pricing, choose whichever gig your word count falls over—for example, if you have a 30k-word manuscript, choose the basic gig starting at $500, and I will charge you a total of $750. ($0.025 x 30,000)
What are the differences between your proofreading gigs?
There are no differences in how I proofread or what you receive between the gigs. The only difference is the word count and the pricing. Whether your MS is 20k words or 80k words, I will complete a full proof just the same.
What does "revisions" in the gig mean?
Included in each proof is one revision. This means you'll be able to review my work and comments and ask me one round of questions if you would like. That can be a list of questions from you that I send the answers to, or it can be my responding to your comments within the doc myself.
